Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsPaid ads can fill a consult calendar in days, which makes them attractive after a slow month or before a promotion. They are also where regulated aesthetics businesses run into the most friction: platform policies on health and cosmetic content, claim rules and sensitive-data limits. This page maps the options, explains how to choose where to begin and describes how we work within the rules.
The big picture
A person who searches Google for a med spa treatment is already looking. A person scrolling Instagram is not, but may become interested if the right content appears at the right moment. Those two audiences need different advertising. Search ads should be precise, calm and informative, since the searcher is comparing options. Social ads should be visual, educational and respectful, since the viewer did not ask to be sold to.
The third piece is the follow-up. Most visitors to an aesthetics website do not book on the first visit. They look at one treatment, leave to think and come back later or choose someone else. Retargeting, which shows reminders to people who already visited, reaches those considering patients. In a health-related business such as a med spa it also needs the most care, because tracking visitors who looked at sensitive pages can raise privacy issues and trigger platform restrictions. We design remarketing audiences conservatively and recommend your attorney review the approach.
The right mix depends on your capacity as much as your marketing. If your med spa's injectors are fully booked for six weeks, more demand is not the problem. If your laser room sits empty on Tuesdays, targeted ads for that slot may be the best money you spend.
Platforms
| Platform | Best for | Watch out for | When to start |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google search ads | People actively searching for a treatment or a med spa | Healthcare and medicines policy, restricted terms, bids on brand names and claims in ad text | First, once the website and listing are ready |
| Google Maps and local placements | Showing up on map results for "near me" searches | Needs an accurate profile, and eligibility depends on the format | Together with search ads |
| Bing search ads | Additional search reach, sometimes at lower competition | Smaller audience, same health-ad care | After Google is stable |
| Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) | Awareness, offers, memberships, retargeting | Cosmetic procedure and health ad rules, age requirements, image rules, personal attribute language | Second, or first for a membership or promotion push |
| YouTube and video | Educational explainers and provider introductions | Production effort and a longer path to a booking | Later, if you have video assets |
| Local Services Ads | Pay-per-lead format for qualifying service businesses | Availability depends on the category and market, so confirm whether it is open to you before planning around it | Only if available in your area |
| ChatGPT ads | An early channel where it is available | Limited data, new formats and the same claim rules | A small, measured test after the basics work |
We recommend that a med spa start with one or two platforms and adding more only when the first are tracked and profitable. Platform rules change, so always confirm the live policy.
Health-ad rules
Names and claims
Some platforms restrict ads that name prescription drugs or promote them by brand. Campaigns often focus on consultations and treatment categories instead.
Allowed in some places, limited in others
Platform rules on before-and-after images for cosmetic procedures differ and change. Even where allowed, accuracy and consent matter.
Do not imply a flaw
Ad copy that implies the viewer has a particular condition or feels bad about their appearance can be disapproved.
Adults only
Cosmetic procedure ads are generally expected to reach adults, so audiences are set accordingly.
Substantiation
Phrases like best, number one, safest or results that last forever need proof you probably do not have.
Retargeting and forms
Platforms limit use of health information, and privacy rules may apply to tracking, so lead forms and audiences are designed to avoid collecting it.
Review by policy
Some services draw additional policy scrutiny. We check the live rules before advertising anything outside standard aesthetics.
Platform rules change often and are enforced largely by automated review, so a med spa account that is clean today can see a disapproval next quarter. We build a fallback so a rejected ad does not stall the whole campaign.
Launch routine
We define what a good result is for you: consults booked, first treatments, memberships. We also agree on the language your medical director and counsel are comfortable with.
Ads should land on a page about the exact treatment, with credentials, clear next steps and a booking path that works on a phone.
We track calls, forms and bookings without sending sensitive details to ad platforms. Call recording and tag setups are reviewed with your counsel.
We begin with focused geography, a few treatments and conservative budgets, then expand after we see which ads produce booked consults.
If your calendar is full, we pull back. If a room sits idle, we point ads at that slot.
You see calls, forms and bookings by campaign, what we changed and what we plan next. Ad spend stays in your platform account.
Budgeting
Med spa owners often ask what they should spend on ads. The honest answer starts with their own numbers. What does a typical new patient bring in over the first year, including repeat treatments, packages and a membership if they join? What is your margin on each treatment? How many new patients can your providers and rooms absorb each month without hurting service? How many consults turn into treatments? The answers produce a ceiling on what you can afford to pay for a booked consult, and a floor on how much volume you actually need.
We do not quote budget benchmarks because they vary so much between markets, treatments and med spas that any number would be misleading. We help you calculate your own threshold, set a starting budget you can afford to learn with, and track results to see whether the economics hold. Ad spend is separate from our fee and is paid directly to the platform. Our fee does not change when your spend does.
Seasonality matters as much as the average. Laser hair removal tends to follow the calendar, since many providers prefer to treat when patients have limited sun exposure. Event-driven treatments rise before weddings and holidays. A good plan moves money to match.
Promotions
Promotions are a staple of med spa marketing: seasonal packages, introductory offers, gift card events. They can fill a quiet week, introduce new patients to a treatment or move a slow service. They can also attract bargain hunters who never return and teach regular patients to wait for the next sale. Before you advertise an offer, decide what you want it to do and how you will tell whether it did.
Some states and boards have specific rules about how medical services may be discounted or bundled, and about how pricing is stated in ads. Others care about gifts and inducements. Check yours. We write promotional ads so that the offer, the conditions and the provider information are clear, and we avoid bait-and-switch structures such as a headline price that few patients actually pay.
The better the follow-up, the more a promotion is worth. A first-visit offer paired with a plan to rebook, a membership invitation after treatment and a thoughtful review request can turn a one-time discount into an ongoing relationship. See the lead generation page for how we track that path.
Management fees
Ad questions
Our fee is $895 monthly when we manage one platform, $1,595 for two and $2,295 for three. There is no setup fee and no contract. Your ad budget is separate, paid by you directly to Google or Meta, and we help you choose a starting figure from your own numbers rather than a rule of thumb.
It depends on the platform's current policy and on how the ad is written. Prescription product terms are restricted in some places. We check the live rules before launching and often build around consultations and treatment categories. If a policy changes, we have an alternative ready.
Platform policies differ and change, and your board, the FTC and your counsel have their own views. Where images are used, they should be accurate, unretouched, backed by written consent and never presented as typical. Many clinics choose ads that show the space and the team instead.
If patients are already searching for treatments your med spa offers, Google tends to produce faster, more direct inquiries. If you are launching a membership or want to remind lapsed patients, Meta is often better. We choose based on your goals, capacity and landing pages, and add the second platform after the first is tracked.
It can be done carefully, but it carries privacy and policy considerations. Whether HIPAA applies depends on your med spa, and platforms restrict use of health-related information. We keep audiences broad, avoid sensitive pages and recommend that your attorney review the approach first. Keeping audiences broad and avoiding treatment-specific pages reduces the risk further, though it does not remove it.
It is an early channel, and only some advertisers have access so far. If you can get in, a small measured test after your Google and Meta campaigns are tracked is the sensible way to try it, scored by booked consults. It supplements the groundwork on our AI search page and does not replace it.
Ads can begin sending inquiries within days of launch, then need several weeks of tuning. Results depend on your offer, landing page, speed of response and budget. We do not promise numbers. For platform detail, see the Google Ads page and the Meta Ads page.
